Myoshindo looks beyond the name of a symptom. We consider the pulse, tongue, abdomen, the course of the condition, and changes in daily life to understand the body as a whole and plan each treatment.

Myoshindo is a clinic
for traditional East Asian medicine.
There are many kinds of treatment clinics. Myoshindo does not provide chiropractic care, general bodywork, or sell health products. We practise acupuncture grounded in the diagnostic methods of traditional East Asian medicine.
Treatment is not decided only by the place that hurts. We examine the pulse, tongue and abdomen, and feel the condition of points across the body—including areas of tension, softness, cold, heat and sensitivity. We also ask when the problem began and how it has changed.
These findings are considered together to understand the condition of the whole body and to select the points, techniques and order of treatment for that visit.
At Myoshindo, pulse, tongue and abdominal examination are not optional extras. We regard them as fundamental parts of practising traditional East Asian medicine.

What do we observe?
Traditional East Asian medicine has its own framework for reading patterns in the body. The examination is not based on one finding alone; several signs are considered together and reviewed again after treatment.
Colour, moisture, and coating may provide clues to changes occurring within the body.
Tension, temperature, and sensitivity help us understand the condition from another perspective.
When the problem began, what changes it, and how it has developed over time are part of the examination.

In search of the subtle art of the needle.
The name Myoshindo expresses a wish to seek the subtle art of acupuncture, to receive what has been passed down, and to bring it to life in present-day clinical practice. The three characters suggest tradition, skill, and the place in which they are carried forward.

From the late Toshiko Kodera, he learned to return to the original language of the Huangdi Neijing—the Suwen and Lingshu—and the Shanghan Lun, rather than relying only on summaries.

Living lineage
Shinpu Fujimoto and Wafu Fujimoto
An encounter with Shinpu Fujimoto, now Representative Director of the Hokushinkai, led Ishihara to the late Wafu Fujimoto, whom he came to regard as his lifelong teacher. From him he learned not only East Asian medicine, but also how to face life and death, informed by Buddhist thought.
Today he is developing and testing the Multi-Layered Meta-Network Theory (MLMN), a research framework that brings multiple Chinese medical theories into dialogue with Japanese Kampo and the work of physicians of the Edo period. Through Wisdom Terra, he also works to introduce the depth of Japanese acupuncture and Kampo to readers in Europe, the Americas and beyond.

To ensure adequate time for the first interview, pulse, tongue and abdomen examination, clinical documentation, and treatment planning, a flat initial consultation fee of ¥3,300 applies to patients of all ages from August 8, 2026. Children’s first visits require the same careful history and assessment; therefore, the fee is uniform. Thank you for your understanding.
From the second visit onward, only the applicable treatment fee is charged.

Effective August 8, 2026, the initial consultation fee is a flat ¥3,300 for patients of all ages. The fee allows us to reserve sufficient time for the first examination, clinical documentation, and preparation of the initial treatment plan. A child’s first visit also requires a careful history and examination.
